Abstract

This research discusses local wisdom in the comic ‘Hanasaku Iroha’ by P.A.Work with a literary anthropological approach. Hanasaku Iroha tells about the daily lives of the characters while working at the “ryokan”. The comic and anime Hanasaku Iroha are literary works in which there is a lot of Japanese local wisdom. This study aims to describe the form of oral folklore, the form of semi oral folklore and the form non-oral folklore in the comic Hanasaku Iroha by P.A.Work. To answer the problem, this research uses Japanese folklore theory according to Danandjaja. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the analysis show that there is one kind of local wisdom in the form of oral folklore, namely the folk language. There is one kind of local wisdom in the form of semi oral folklore, namely customs. There are four kinds of local wisdom in the form of non-oral folklore, namely folk architecture, traditional body
clothing and jewelry, and folk food and drink for non-oral folklore from material groups, and traditional gestures for non-oral folklore from non-material groups.
