Abstract

The aim of this paper is to define the role of digital storytelling in improving the conversation skill in Japanese conversation classes. Digital storytelling is not only to empower the students in learning Japanese conversation, moreover it is also a must for the instructor to use and applying it during online classes in Covid 19 pandemic time. It should be used to make the students more creative, work independently and also build a good team work. By using multimedia digital storytelling both the instructor and the students could become more fun in doing the online classes. The method of this study is literature review and engaging 28 students of 5th semester in conversation classes at Japanese Studies Program, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia. The data were collected on September to December Academic Year 2020. The result of this study is, that the students could make the project based learning outcome using various multimedia digital storytelling which show their interest in Japanese language.
