Abstract

Currently the world of education is experiencing a serious problem. With changes in science and technology that are very fast and complex, it is demanding
to be more mature in facing the changing world that is fast paced. Recently Society 5.0 was hotly discussed. Japan is one of the countries that has introduced Society 5.0. reported on kompas.com that the Japanese government has started to introduce Society 5.0 where digital technology is applied to human life. This
concept is not much different from industry 4.0, it's just that Society 5.0 prepares its human resources more precisely as a neutralizer for the challenges presented by industry 4.0 which gave birth to various innovations and industrialization. With the arrival of Society 5.0, it can solve problems and systems in cyberspace and the social world.To realize or prepare for Society 5.0 in the field of education, it is not enough for children to only understand or be given a theory. This is not enough to prepare students for Society 5.0 but a way of thinking. This way of thinking is to familiarize students with adapting in the future. Some of these ways of thinking must be critical, constructive, and innovative.
The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviewing the managers of the Department of
Foreign Language and Literature at Semarang State University and Manado State University. Japanese online learning in welcoming society 5.0 through the use of media such as elena, zoom, google classroom. Online learning has advantages and disadvantages. The weakness of online learning is overcome by the use of various media. The use of varied and innovative online learning media is expected to increase students' interest in learning through technology-based learning.
