THE EFFECTIVINESS OF USING PADLET AS LEARNING MEDIA

Padlet is an application that functions like a blackboard in internet. Teachers and learners can take advantage of the features provided in the padlet for learning objectives. Padlet is an application that can be used online via computer or mobile phone. This study aims to determine the level of effectiveness of the padlet in the learning process. The effectiveness is seen from the aspects of the mechanism of using padlet, the response and level of learners understanding of the material, and the constraints found in using padlet as learning media. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was obtained through questionnaires and documentation methods with beginner level apprentices at LPK JLMC Lembang, West Java. The results showed that the use of padlet was quite effective and efficient, but not maximal yet. The effectiveness is seen from the creation and delivery of assigments and practice qustions. In addition, the padlet provides features for sending images, videos, and audios. The efficiency can be seen in terms
of the time to collect assignments and practice questions as well as tidiness process in organizing the pile up of learner assignment. Meanwhile, it is not maximal because some learners are still affected by technical constraints. Technical constraint found were difficulties using the features in the application and finding it difficult to type answer by using a Japanese keyboard. In addition, there were some learners who experienced network constratints, which hindered the process of sending assignments and training using padlet.
